Witch Balls & Beer - Women in Brewing - Gateway City Brewery North Bay Ontario

What We’ll Do

*Public experiences paused for January; contact host for private January bookings*
Guests will meet their magical, mystical host at Gateway City Brewery (GCB). They will start with picking brews for a flight of beer with the help of the GCB beer experts, and settling in with their host while she tells them a bit about witchcraft and the history of women in brewing. Guests will then take a tour and find out more about the brewing process and the unique way GCB portrays North Bay’s history through their beer. Guests will be able to grab their 12 oz pour whenever they feel inclined and will be able to purchase some amazing grub from Miso & Shiso (if open; dates and times vary) as their host walks then through making witch balls or jars, (a protective and decorative house charm). All items will be provided for the jars, and the host will email a list of personal items prior to the experience which guests may wish to include. Guests will be able to take home their witch balls. To finish off the experience, the host will do an oracle card reading with the guests. Guests will leave the experience with a new outlook on the witch, have a better understanding of the history of brewing and how women influenced it, and maybe be inspired to delve into the world of witchcraft themselves!

Meet your host, Abby Cook

Hello! My name is Abby Cook and I was born and raised in North Bay. I headed to the East Coast for ten years where I completed a diploma in foodservice management and a degree in hospitality and tourism business administration, with a focus on food and beer tourism. I am a founding member of the Beer Baroness Society, which is a North Bay based society that focuses on socializing and education around craft beer for women, in a safe and welcoming environment. I work in tourism in North Bay and Northeastern Ontario, and I have my finger on the pulse of the best places to visit in the Bay! I am a witch, and I have been practicing witchcraft and paganism for about two years. I focus on left-handed, chaotic magic, which is a mix of all types of magic. I let my heart dictate my practice.
