Meet your host, Barb Kiely
Hi! Our names are Sandra and Barb. We live in the booming gold mining town of Kirkland Lake where rumor has it the main street was paved with gold! It has often said that we also have hearts of gold!
Sandra originally is from the Atacama Desert in Northern Chile and felt very isolated from her family when she first came to Kirkland Lake. She turned it into a positive by founding the Kirkland Lake Multicultural Group! Now we and many new friends operate “The Stope” a beautiful Multicultural Centre in the downtown core. Her vibrant, fun loving, “golden” heart can be felt at “The Stope”, where she now teaches Spanish and shares her Chilean hospitality. Sandra’s eyes light up when she is storytelling her life in South America.
Barb also has a heart of gold, and is always giving back to her cherished hometown. Resilient and tenacious, she has helped many here through her many years as a Nurse Practitioner. She has also travelled and lived all over the world and is fascinated by the diverse people and cultures she has experienced. Her many friends come from around the world and she feels blessed to have such diversity of cultures in this little town!
