This experience focuses on the trapping influences and native culture of our area.
The great Mattagami river was used by ancient fur traders; our hike along its shores will take us near an indigenous burial site identified by the Wabun Tribal Council where we’ll make an offering to honor elders passed.
Depending on the time of year you might get a chance at capturing the rushing waters of Wawaitin falls. The beaver reigns in this land, and was the single most important factor in Canada’s inception.

Try Angel’s experience (Boreal Wild Culinary Sampler) before or after this pioneering adventure; she will tantalize your taste buds.

Centered on local pioneering tradition, trapping of course. We will hike trails in the Boreal forest on the west side of the Mattagami river with a stop at Wawaitin falls for some great photo ops and to learn how the Hudson Bay Company helped create Canada. Walking sticks anyone?
