What We'll Do

We will start our group with a Circle: introducing ourselves to each other, and the meanings/connections of circles in our lives and the universe. Next, a smudge with Teachings to establish a safe and inclusive space. At this time, the story of the drum will be shared, the meaning of the drum, and etiquette. The drums will be handed out. For the next 40 minutes, the participants will be introduced to 7 songs and that selection can be adjusted to reflect the demographics of the group. The group will then return to the Circle and will have bannock and cedar tea. It is then, that the talking stick lesson will be introduced and individuals/families will be invited to craft their own. Once the activity is done, we will have a sharing circle with our talking stick and then close the experience with the Travel Song. This is our vision. We are here to continue feeding our souls and spirits while planting seeds of interest and learning of the hand drum. Always sharing laughter, love, and joy. Miigwetch.
