Boreal Forest Bathing and Fireside Culinary Delights

What We’ll Do

Treat yourself to a gourmet forest bathing walk and experience the winter forest like you never have before! Let certified Forest Therapy Guide Aimée Lavoie, and Wilderness Guide Mike Turgeon welcome you to a private nature trail hidden near the heart of Timmins. Here you will be led on a gentle walk through the snowy boreal forest where you will be invited to deepen into your senses and immerse yourself in the present moment. Waiting for you at the end of the walk will be a cozy fire and a selection of appetizers to fill your belly and warm the soul. Enjoy a hot beverage and gourmet snack prepared fireside by an outdoor cooking enthusiast, and take in the flavours of the forest with your awakened senses. Afterwards, return at your own pace along the same trail and emerge feeling refreshed and reconnected. Come alone or with others; you’re always among friends in the forest!

Experience Setting

This experience will take place on a private nature trail just outside of downtown Timmins. The landscape is representative of typical forests of the area.

What to Bring

This experience is weather dependent and will be postponed or cancelled in case of extreme cold or weather conditions. Please dress VERY warmly as this low-impact activity does not generate a lot of body heat (base layer/longjohns, mid layer, and outer layer/shell such as ski pants and parka, as well as warm boots, hats, and mitts) . It is always easier to remove layers than to have to add them. Please also bring water to drink along the walk.

What’s Included

We want you to be as comfortable as possible during your nature connection walk so we will be offering a selection of amenities such as handwarmers, tissues, and seating options. The menu will consist of 2-3 desserts prepared over the fire as well as a small assortment of other finger foods. Please alert us of any food allergies at time of booking.

Environmental Features

No extreme sensory stimuli (e.g. bright lights, loud noises)

Additional Requirements

The trail is not groomed therefore unfortunately this experience is not accessible to those with mobility issues.

Meet your host, Aimée-Leah Lavoie

Hello, bonjour! My name is Aimée and I am from Timmins, Ontario, Canada. I own and operate Bunchberry Nature Walks, where I offer in-person and remotely guided walks from the beautiful boreal forest near me. My love for nature runs deep and I can often be found in the great outdoors camping, hiking, harvesting, and forest bathing with my dog and loved ones. I am passionate about well-being: for myself, for others, and for the more-than-human world. I bring my Indigenous Environmental Studies background, warm nature, and experience serving individuals in need to my guiding practice in order to offer a gentle and welcoming experience to all who join me. Hi I'm Mike, my home is Timmins, Ontario and I have a great passion for the outdoors. In all seasons, I practice bushcraft skills, survival skills, navigation, camping, fishing, hunting, canoeing, cooking with fire and exploring the paths less travelled on land and water. I'm a millwright by trade, working at a local mine. Having lived in Timmins 35 years I came to understand and love the environment around me. I have acquired the skills to utilize what's around us and I have a secondary drive for cooking food outdoors over a fire. From sausage on a bun to a gourmet grilled cheese with dessert served afterwards, you'll be talking about it for days.
