What We’ll Do

The alpaca walk is all about total relaxation and submersion into nature while walking alpacas through our groomed trails and learning all you ever wanted or needed to know about these beautiful animals. You will arrived at the farm and be introduced to some of our alpacas and a bit of their behaviour. Alpacas are nervous animals, therefore they force their handlers to be calm around them. The more focused you are calming and talking to the alpacas, the more you enjoy your surroundings and forget about the stresses of every day life. During our walk, we will answer any questions you may have about alpacas. On our return to the barn area, the alpacas back in their pen and everyone is feeling zen, you will be able to go into the pen and meet the other alpacas and the 2 goats. As time permits, we will take you into the shop and explain some of the processes from shearing to an end product. You will get a chance to see looms in action and also see a demonstration of spinning.

Experience Setting

We are located between Timmins and Matheson - we are 30 minutes East of Timmins on Hwy 101 and 15 minutes West of Matheson. The easiest way to find us is to google Dream Acres Alpacas and it will bring you right here.

What to Bring

Dress according to weather. You will be walking on bush trails which are not always as smooth as we would like. The alpacas are divas and will not walk if it is too wet or muddy. In this case, we would do an extensive tour in the barn and in the weaving studio This experience is more of an educational tour but can be suited to children accompanied by adults. It is not very well suited for toddlers as the alpacas tend to be quite nervous around them and spook at any sudden movements.
We accept Credit, debit and cash for any of your purchases.

Meet your host, Jo-Anne Burton

I am Jo-Anne Burton and together with my husband Gary, we own Dream Acres Alpacas. Gary and I are both originally from Northern Ontario but travelled quite a bit during our career in aviation. When it was time to come home, we decided on buying this farm and getting alpacas. We are both passionate about raising alpacas and learning all there is to know about them. Alpaca fiber is really a luxurious fiber and we like to share the wonderful properties of the fiber and the beautiful gracious animals that provide it for us.
